MutualAid Fundraiser

Below is the text of a fundraising e-mail I recieved from MutualAid.org, which hosts this blog and my homepage. If you appreciate my blog/homepage or anything else hosted by mutualaid (such as School of the Americas Watch, DC Indymedia & others) please consider donating to them. I've already donated what I can afford, if others can chip in a little it'll help out.

Mutual Aid fundraising letter:
Greetings:

This message is not spam; you are receiving this message because your
email address is hosted by mutualaid.org or is listed as a contact
for a web site or emailing list hosted by mutualaid.org. We apologize
if you receive this message more than once - if so it is probably
because you receive multiple services from mutualaid.org.

Since 2001, mutualaid.org has delivered free and low-cost Internet
services such as web site and mailing list hosting to the
international radical and progressive communities.

We are committed to providing Internet hosting services to political
activists and progressive grass-roots organizations throughout the
world, asking only that our users pay what they can to support the
equipment and operating costs. mutualaid.org is operated with all
volunteer labor and all expenses are directly related to providing
services. We are profoundly grateful to those of you who have already
donated to mutualaid.org, but most expenses are still paid by volunteers.

We are soliciting your contribution to mutualaid.org to fund our
continued and expanding operations. Funds are used to purchase or
lease computer equipment co-located at an Internet service provider
(ISP), and pay for operating expenses such as monthly connectivity fees.
mutualaid.org has moved from a hosting environment behind a residential
DSL line to a high-bandwidth ISP co-location environment with four
Pentium IV servers, redundant hard drives, and so forth. Our upgraded
environment performs and scales better, and it costs more.

mutualaid.org supports vital projects such as School of the Americas
Watch, National Conference on Organized Resistance, the Indymedia sites
for Russia, Washington, DC, and the Canary Islands, and many, many other
sites. We hosted (and defended against attack) the rncnotwelcome.org
organizing site for the RNC protests. We host hundreds of discussion,
outreach and organizing mailing lists, including Sustain, Queer Resources
Directory, Anarchist Black Cross Network, and others throughout the world.
We are also pleased to provide services to those without the means to
contribute financially, including numerous individuals and organizations
outside of Europe and North America.

If you make use of our email service, or if we host your mailing list or
web site, take a moment to consider what the service is worth to you and
what you would pay for it in the commercial marketplace. Please also
reflect on the value of having a hosting provider that respects
progressive activists and their work. We will be thankful if you
contribute even a fraction of what you would pay for your services from
a corporate ISP.
